UPDATE ON TUSCANY!
NEW and EXCITING finds!
Dear Friends of Tuscany:
Ever wonder what's really under the Tuscan sun? Here is an update on properties visited on my recent trip to Italy.
From the moment you step through the front entrance, you are enthralled by the beauty before you. History seems to jump off the walls of this beautiful Renaissance Palazzo. The hotel is located on the edge of Florence's historic centre. It is a combination of two structures, the 15th century Palazzo della Gherardesca and the Conventino, a 16th century Palazzo, which was once a convent. Between them lies Florence's largest private garden Giardino della Gherardesca. I had the privilege to tour the property with Sergio Fagioli, the Reception Manager. Craftsmen took time and patience to restore historical frescos, wallpapers and windows. Spacious accommodations are complemented by likewise bathrooms. The pool that has been added was designed within the guidelines for new construction in the city. Not to look like your typical blue water pool, the designers were careful to create a pool that looks like a pond in the midst of the green surrounding it. All that seems to be missing is the fish. Dining is offered in three venues, Il Palagio, La Magnolia overlooking the garden, and Winery which offers tastings from a large selection of local vintners. The addition of a lovely spa and fitness center round off this well rounded experience in this beautiful city.
A luxury retreat in the heart of Chianti, a Small Leading Hotel of the World, Castello del Nero Hotel & Spa is located a stones-throw from the historic cities of Florence and Siena, surrounded by 700 acres of rolling Tuscan Hills. Castello del Nero is the first luxury hotel in the Chianti area to offer you the added indulgence of an exclusive destination spa, making it a perfect choice for any experience; a spa holiday, a romantic honeymoon, a journey into wine and gastronomy, an exceptional wedding venue, a relaxed business conference or simply some private time to relax and revitalize.
Located in what was once the stables, restaurant La Torre offers a perfect setting for a real Tuscan food and wine experience. Created around local ingredients and high quality organically grown products a tempting assortment of home made culinary delights is produced by the Chef and his team. From pasta to bread to pastries, everything is rigorously home made.
Villa Magniacane lies just 7 miles south of Florence, in the village of San Casciano, in the heart of Tuscany and the Chianti Classico region. This magnificent structure dates back to the 16th Century. Originally built for the Machiavelli Family, the villa has changed hands several times until it was purchased in 2000 with the plan for a complete renovation restoring it to its original splendor. Consisting of 28 rooms in various categories, the property is not only a wonderful place where you can relax, but also is a producer of both wines and olive oils. Wine tastings and Olive Oil tastings are available to all of the Villas guests. Several dining venues offer guests the opportunity to have breakfast overlooking the Tuscan countryside, dine alfresco in their herb garden, or have a more intimate dinner in their private wine cellar. Guests may chose to have a spa treatment at their Nadushka Spa, offering holistic products produced using mostly plants and herbs from the Tuscan countryside. No matter what, Villa Mangiacane’ location puts you in perfect proximity to all the wonders that Tuscany has to offer.
